That refrigerator must have been dead because when you put crabs in the fridge or ice them down they stop moving. After an hour they should not have been swinging from the racks!

I have so many wonderful memories of my Mom. Too many to mention, but my favorite would probably be when my brothers and I were kids and we would sit around the picnic table in the summer eating crabs listening to her tell us stories of when she and her sister were Baltimore Colt cheerleaders. We were in awe and had no idea who the colts even were at our age. It wasn't until we got older that we realized that our mom was part of an oganization that was so famous. She's our Hero!

Loved Vickie's photo from atop the Bromo Seltzer Tower. I worked with a vickie contie many moons ago at North Charles General Hospital. Vickie - if this is you - hello from seattle.

One summer afternoon, I was about 10, my Mom and I stopped at a road-side stand and bought live crabs. The man put the basket in the trunk of our Cutlass Supreme. When we got home, she popped the trunk and the crabs were everywhere! She collected them all, put them back in the crate and put them in the refrigerator. About an hour later, she opened the fridge and the crabs were swinging from the racks! One even jumped out and started to chase the dog! It was hilarious! I will never forget that day.

I wrote mine in Word so it could count the words for me and got it down to exactly 100. However, when I copied it into the email, I got so excited thinking about crabs, that I clicked send before putting my contact info in. Of course, as I was clicking the send button, my brain was saying, "Wait, wait, wait!!" but my hand ignored my brain as usual.

I resent it with the info, so please disregard the first one.

100 words was difficult. I had to leave out some of my best stuff!!! Thanks for the contest. I think for a week you should limit your column to 100 words!! See how we feel.

Erin,

Yup. You need to cut it down some. Take out some prepositional phrases or a sentence here or there...

We have to keep it at the limit because we expect a lot of entries. After all, who doesn't want steamed crabs--especially if they're free?! : )
