David Byrne

David Byrne is an innovator of music, film and visual arts.

Byrne was born in Dumbarton, Scotland, in 1952. When he was two years old, the family relocated to Hamilton, Ontario.

Around 1960, the family moved to Arbutus, a suburb at the southwest corner of Baltimore where Byrne spent his formative years. Byrne graduated from Lansdowne High School and attended Maryland Institute College of Art for a year. He once said that the song “And She Was” is about a Baltimore girl tripping on LSD.

Byrne attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where he met Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, who along with Jerry Harrison became Talking Heads.
